Dr. Sunida Yuthayothin: From a Passion for Antique Jewelry to an Inspiration in Aesthetic Art

‘Dr. Nida’, or ‘Dr. Sunida Yuthayotin’, an alumna of the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, is the CEO and founder of Nida Esth Medical Center, a world-renowned medical center in Siam Square that has become another key force in elevating Thai aesthetic medicine standards worldwide. With over 20 years of expertise and the creation of the most invaluable works in the style of a connoisseur of fine art, she has earned wide recognition.

The Art of Bringing Beauty to Life

“From the outside, most people believe that being a doctor must mean living a strictly scientific life. But that isn’t the case for me. I am a person with two sides. Certainly, one side is absorbed in medicine, science, and technology, while the other admires historical stories, the traces of time, art, and architecture. I always enjoy reading historical novels, and when I travel, I choose to visit places of historical significance.”

“From a passion for art since childhood, I developed a hobby that nourishes my mind and inspires my work to this day: collecting antique jewelry. Personally, I believe that when artists of the past created each piece of art, they must have poured their heart and soul into designing and crafting each piece—pieces valuable enough to be preserved for hundreds of years. Some pieces are one of a kind in the world. This special uniqueness makes me appreciate even more the love and spirit that artists of earlier generations passed down to each owner across every era, until finally they came into our hands.”

“Antique jewelry from each era has its own distinctive character and charm, such as Victorian, Belle Époque, or Art Deco jewelry, which I choose to collect and pass on to my heirs to continue caring for what we love.”

As beautiful as a masterpiece in the hands of a skilled expert

The joy and aesthetic pleasure that come from appreciating antique jewelry, together with the ability to sense the spirit of the artist embedded in each work, is a powerful inspiration for me as I strive to create beauty through medical technology. With meticulous attention to detail in every case entrusted to my care—Skin • Slim • Surgery • Hair—this became the origin of the slogan, ‘Become a world-class masterpiece in the hands of professional physicians.’

“The response and support from every case across the country and around the world, in addition to the work inspiration that comes from a love of art, is also an important driving force for me and the rest of the Nida Esth team to work on medical development—advancing both expertise and technology to meet every trust placed in us. We are extremely proud to have earned the trust of patients both domestic and international, including celebrities and national leaders. We have also had the honor of being entrusted by foreign royalty. We thank everyone who sincerely believes in and supports what we do.”

The Love That Drives the Organization

“Many people wonder why I continue to care for patients myself. The short answer is that I still enjoy and appreciate what I do, and I have a work ethic that is straightforward yet effective—that is, we do our best today, but tomorrow we must do better, and even better still the day after. This is why I keep improving, and of course, each member of the company is ready to collaborate.”

International Pride

First, I would like to begin by expressing my gratitude to HELLO! magazine for awarding me the Honorary People award. The fact that people admire what we do is comforting to us all. In addition, Nida Esth’ has also received two more regional awards: Advance Laser and Plastic Surgery Clinic of the Year in Asia Pacific, and The Most Innovative Non-Surgical Hair Transplant of Asia Pacific for 2023, from Global Health Asia-Pacific.

“These are the results of votes from across Asia-Pacific from those who came to Thailand for medical services last year. We are all very proud of Nida Esth’ for receiving these awards. Every time a patient praises Thai medical professionals for their abilities, we always feel delighted. Although I am often invited to open branches abroad, I usually decline those invitations because I believe that ‘the best medicine in the world can be found only in Thailand.’”
Different Measures of Success

“People define success differently, depending on what standard one uses. It may be operating profit or company revenue—anyone who can achieve their desired results is considered successful. But in my view, true success consists of being happy doing what you love, earning the trust of patients and maintaining positive relationships with each of them, and above all, building a national reputation.”

“Even though I and Nida Esth’ are only a small part of Thai medicine, I always tell my team, ‘Be proud of what we do,’ because it is not for ourselves—what we do today, we do for the reputation of Thai medicine.”
