INTRODUCTION
Lip enhancement does not always have to begin with injectable volume. Some patients want only subtle fullness, improved texture or softer perioral lines while keeping their original lip shape. LipLase® uses Er:YAG laser energy to stimulate collagen within the lip and surrounding tissues instead of placing filler material. The visible change therefore depends on the patient’s own collagen response and is usually gradual and subtle. At Nida Esth’, planning considers baseline lip volume, lip proportion, perioral lines, hydration, dental support and facial balance so the treatment remains proportional to the rest of the face.
WHAT’S THE EXPERT SAY?
“For patients who want the lips to look healthier and slightly fuller but are not ready for filler, collagen stimulation can be a very elegant option. I do not use LipLase® to create an artificial new lip shape. I use it to improve quality, smoothness and natural fullness while keeping the lips proportional to the face.”

WHAT IS IT?
LipLase® is Fotona’s non-invasive Er:YAG laser treatment for fuller and smoother lips without needles. Laser energy can be delivered to both intraoral and external lip tissues, creating controlled thermal stimulation that initiates collagen remodeling. Unlike filler, no volumizing substance is placed in the lips. The degree of fullness therefore depends on individual biology and generally remains more subtle than injectable augmentation.
Personalization matters because the same laser platform can create different biological effects when pulse duration, energy, spot size, treatment density and number of passes change. Two patients may describe a similar concern but have very different skin thickness, anatomy, pigmentation tendency, previous procedures or tolerance for downtime. A physician therefore needs to select the treatment endpoint rather than simply copying a standard setting from one patient to another.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Intraoral Collagen Stimulation
Er:YAG SMOOTH® energy is delivered from inside the mouth to the inner lip tissues. Repeated controlled heating supports
collagen contraction and starts a remodeling process without needles or incisions.

External Lip and Perioral Treatment
The external vermilion and perioral region can also be treated to support lip definition and soften the appearance of fine lines around the mouth.
Parameters are adjusted to the thickness and sensitivity of this delicate area.

Gradual Natural Remodeling
After treatment, collagen remodeling continues over time. Because the procedure does not place a volumizing substance,
the final degree of fullness depends on the patient’s own response and is generally subtler than filler.

WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
WHAT RESULTS
CAN I EXPECT?
The aim is improvement rather than a standardized transformation. Some changes may be appreciated relatively early, while collagen remodeling or tissue adaptation usually develops more gradually. The final result depends on baseline anatomy, age, skin or tissue quality, treatment parameters and individual biological response.
- Subtle natural-looking lip fullness
- Smoother lip texture
- Improved lip firmness and definition
- Softening of fine perioral lines
- No injectable volumizing material
Long-term results are influenced by more than the treatment session itself. Sun exposure, smoking, skincare, hormonal changes, age, nutrition, sleep and future aging all affect tissue quality. Follow-up allows the physician to compare photographs, assess response and decide whether a protocol should be repeated, modified or stopped. Maintenance should therefore be individualized rather than scheduled automatically for every patient.

WHO IS IT FOR?
An ideal candidate is someone whose concern matches the mechanism of the treatment and who has realistic expectations about a non-surgical laser procedure. A medical consultation is important when there is significant laxity, active disease, pregnancy, recent procedures, medications affecting healing or other clinical factors.
• Patients wanting subtle lip enhancement
• Those who prefer a needle-free approach
• Lips with reduced firmness or definition
• Fine lines around the mouth
• Patients wanting natural-looking change rather than dramatic volume
A responsible treatment plan also considers what the laser is not designed to correct. Significant excess skin, advanced structural descent, major volume deficiency, active skin disease or other medical conditions may require a different approach. Defining these boundaries helps prevent over-treatment and allows the physician to decide whether laser rejuvenation, injectables, minimally invasive procedures or surgery is the more appropriate tool for the severity and origin of the concern.
STEPS OF TREATMENT
STEP 1
Lip proportion and perioral assessment
STEP 2
Discussion of realistic non-filler goals
STEP 3
Intraoral SMOOTH® laser treatment
STEP 4
External lip and perioral treatment
STEP 5
Cooling, hydration and comfort care
STEP 6
Post-treatment lip care and sun protection
Exact preparation and aftercare vary with the selected parameters. Patients should disclose recent procedures, medications and relevant medical history before treatment. After laser procedures, avoiding unnecessary irritation and following physician-directed aftercare are important parts of recovery.

PERSONALIZED TREATMENT PLANNING
Patient comfort and safety are also part of treatment design. Sensation can range from gentle warmth to brief heat or a light snapping feeling depending on the mode.
Comfort measures can be used when appropriate, but the goal is not simply to use the highest possible energy. The physician balances tolerability with an
appropriate biological endpoint and the patient’s recovery needs.
At Nida Esth’, treatment planning is intended to be individualized rather than device-led. The program name describes a technology platform, but the clinical result
depends on how the physician selects treatment zones, energy, passes and combinations.
This is why consultation, photography and follow-up are part of the treatment process rather than optional extras.

FAQ
Is LipLase® the same as lip filler?
No. LipLase® does not inject hyaluronic acid or another volumizer. It stimulates the patient’s own collagen, so the type and degree of change are different.
Will my lips become dramatically larger?
The treatment is designed for subtle natural enhancement rather than dramatic enlargement. Patients wanting a major volume change may require another approach.
Does it hurt?
Patients usually feel warmth and may notice brief heat during some passes. Comfort varies with individual sensitivity and treatment settings.
Is there downtime?
Downtime is usually limited, although temporary swelling, warmth, dryness or sensitivity can occur.
When will I see results?
Some patients notice an early change in texture or firmness, while collagen-related fullness develops gradually.
Can it be combined with filler?
Potential combinations depend on anatomy, timing and goals. The physician should decide sequence and interval to avoid unnecessary or excessive treatment.
