INTRODUCTION
Skin can begin to look older in more than one way at the same time. Some patients notice laxity and reduced elasticity, while others are more concerned about roughness, fine lines or dullness. A treatment that only heats deeply may not fully address surface quality, while aggressive resurfacing may create more recovery than the patient wants. SuperSMOOTH™ is designed to bridge these goals by combining the tightening effect of Fotona SMOOTH® mode with a controlled Er:YAG resurfacing component. The physician can therefore balance thermal collagen stimulation with the amount of surface renewal that the skin actually needs.
WHAT’S THE EXPERT SAY?
“Some patients do not need an aggressive lifting procedure, but their skin has started to look less firm and less refined. I like treatments that allow me to work on collagen and the surface in the same session, because firmness alone does not always make the complexion look fresh. With SuperSMOOTH™, the intensity can be customized to match the skin and the downtime the patient is comfortable with.”

WHAT IS IT?
SuperSMOOTH™ is a next-generation Fotona Er:YAG treatment that combines SMOOTH®-mode tightening with controlled skin resurfacing. SMOOTH® mode uses controlled non-ablative thermal stimulation to support collagen contraction and remodeling. The resurfacing component works more superficially to renew a controlled portion of the outer skin layer. The combined concept allows the same treatment plan to address firmness and visible surface quality rather than treating them as completely separate concerns.
Personalization matters because the same laser platform can create different biological effects when pulse duration, energy, spot size, treatment density and number of passes change. Two patients may describe a similar concern but have very different skin thickness, anatomy, pigmentation tendency, previous procedures or tolerance for downtime. A physician therefore needs to select the treatment endpoint rather than simply copying a standard setting from one patient to another.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
SMOOTH® Thermal Tightening
Er:YAG energy is delivered in a sequence designed to build controlled heat without conventional full-field ablation.
Repeated gentle heating supports collagen contraction and initiates a remodeling response that develops over time.

Controlled Er:YAG Resurfacing
The second component renews the superficial skin layer at a physician-selected intensity. This can improve rough texture, fine lines and dullness.
Because depth is controllable, treatment can range from light refreshment to a more noticeable resurfacing effect.

A Combined Endpoint
The advantage comes from combining two different endpoints: thermal stimulation for firmness and surface renewal for refinement.
The physician can change the balance between these components instead of using one fixed recipe for every patient.

WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
WHAT RESULTS
CAN I EXPECT?
The aim is improvement rather than a standardized transformation. Some changes may be appreciated relatively early, while collagen remodeling or tissue adaptation usually develops more gradually. The final result depends on baseline anatomy, age, skin or tissue quality, treatment parameters and individual biological response.
- Firmer-looking skin
- Smoother and more refined texture
- Softening of fine lines and roughness
- Improved visible radiance
- Balanced improvement in firmness and surface quality
Long-term results are influenced by more than the treatment session itself. Sun exposure, smoking, skincare, hormonal changes, age, nutrition, sleep and future aging all affect tissue quality. Follow-up allows the physician to compare photographs, assess response and decide whether a protocol should be repeated, modified or stopped. Maintenance should therefore be individualized rather than scheduled automatically for every patient.

WHO IS IT FOR?
An ideal candidate is someone whose concern matches the mechanism of the treatment and who has realistic expectations about a non-surgical laser procedure.
A medical consultation is important when there is significant laxity, active disease, pregnancy, recent procedures, medications affecting healing or other clinical factors.
• Early skin laxity
• Rough or uneven texture
• Fine lines and dullness
• Patients wanting tightening and resurfacing together
• Patients whose downtime preference allows controlled surface renewal
A responsible treatment plan also considers what the laser is not designed to correct. Significant excess skin, advanced structural descent, major volume deficiency, active skin disease or other medical conditions may require a different approach. Defining these boundaries helps prevent over-treatment and allows the physician to decide whether laser rejuvenation, injectables, minimally invasive procedures or surgery is the more appropriate tool for the severity and origin of the concern.

STEPS OF TREATMENT
STEP 1
Skin-quality and sensitivity assessment
STEP 2
Selection of tightening versus resurfacing emphasis
Selection of tightening versus
resurfacing emphasis
STEP 3
SMOOTH® thermal stimulation
STEP 4
Controlled Er:YAG surface treatment
STEP 5
Soothing and barrier-support care
STEP 6
Post-laser skincare and strict sun protection
Exact preparation and aftercare vary with the selected parameters. Patients should disclose recent procedures, medications and relevant medical history before treatment. After laser procedures, avoiding unnecessary irritation and following physician-directed aftercare are important parts of recovery.
PERSONALIZED TREATMENT PLANNING
Patient comfort and safety are also part of treatment design. Sensation can range from gentle warmth to brief heat or a light snapping feeling depending on the mode.
Comfort measures can be used when appropriate, but the goal is not simply to use the highest possible energy. The physician balances tolerability with an
appropriate biological endpoint and the patient’s recovery needs.
At Nida Esth’, treatment planning is intended to be individualized rather than device-led. The program name describes a technology platform, but the clinical result
depends on how the physician selects treatment zones, energy, passes and combinations.
This is why consultation, photography and follow-up are part of the treatment process rather than optional extras.

FAQ
Is SuperSMOOTH™ the same as a conventional peel?
No. It combines SMOOTH® thermal tightening with an Er:YAG resurfacing component, so it addresses more than superficial exfoliation.
Will my skin peel?
Dryness, redness or visible peeling can occur depending on resurfacing intensity. A lighter protocol may have substantially less visible recovery.
Can it improve fine lines?
The combination of collagen stimulation and controlled surface renewal can improve the appearance of fine lines in appropriate patients.
How much downtime should I expect?
Downtime depends on resurfacing depth. Treatment can be adjusted to balance visible improvement with recovery preference.
Is it suitable for every skin type?
Suitability depends on skin type, pigmentation history, current irritation and other clinical factors. Physician assessment is important before resurfacing.
How many sessions are needed?
Some patients use it as periodic skin renewal, while others may benefit from a series. The plan depends on baseline texture, laxity and treatment intensity.
